There is in the soul of a child an impenetrable secret that is
gradually revealed as it develops.
The first essential for the child’s development is concentration. The child who concentrates is immensely happy.

Despite the rain this week, we were very busy and very productive…
We used Andrew’s overhead projector to create 2 large maps of Africa. We will paint one with the countries and the other with the biomes of Africa.
We had a terrific time at Indian Ladder Farms on Thursday! We had a tour of the farm: learned about the apples and their trees; walked in the BIG refrigerator; walked through the packing ‘plant’ and watched cider being made. Then we hiked up Mount Mac for a brief respite and a chance to view the Helderbergs, then down to visit with the animals: Rosie the longhorned cow, the geese, other cows, turkeys, chickens and watched a very large pot-bellied pig make its way out of the barn. After a snack of apple cider and a crispy apple, we headed out to the orchard to pick apples, and then to the pumpkin patch to pick a pumpkin. We finished our morning with lunch! PHEW!! Needles to say several friends fell asleep on their way back to school.
Thank you to ALL of our parents who were able to join us. And a special thank you to Kim Mayer (Emma’s mom) who snuck off to the farm store to pick up a new apple pie work for our practical life shelf! It truly was a TERRUFUC day on the farm!!!
We finished our week with a visit from the Defreestville Fire Deparment. About 6 firefighters visited the school and taught us about fire safety, and showed us what they look like when they have all of their equipment on. Then we were able to tour the BIG fire truck! J
On October 27 and 28, a professional photographer for WHMS will be taking individual photos of the children, and a class photo. A schedule with the date and time that our class will have their pictures taken will come home in a week or so.
Also, at the end of the month, two days are set aside for parent-teacher conferences. If you have not already done so, please contact Meg in the office to schedule a time to sit down and discuss your child’s progress to date with us.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call us at 283-5400. We will return your call as soon as possible. As well you can reach us at our email addresses: firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com .
Have a nice weekend!
