November 30

Dear Parents,

We have been VERY busy the last two-plus weeks… On the 9th we celebrated Sadie’s 3rd birthday with her Montessori birthday walk! Happy Birthday Sadie! On Wednesday night many of you were able to share in Parent-Child night with your child who taught you what he/she does during the day in school. Thank you all for taking the time out of your busy days to join us inthe classroom. It was lots of fun to watch the children teaching you!  On Friday the 12th Karen and John Mason were supposed to share their stories and experiences of Babati Tanzania where our sister school, The Sinai School, is and where our Upper El and Middle School is helping to raise funding to build a well and pump. Unfortuantely, Karen and John could not make it, but if you are interested in the project and would like to share it with your child you access information at: http://www.livingstonetanzaniatrust.com/index.php?page=woodlandhillvideo On Tuesday the 16th we were treated to a wonderful presentation by Maureen (Mo) Tusty, Skyler’s mom, about her trip to Zimbabwe and the Okavango Delta region of Botswana. Maureen shared terrific stories of her travels with Jim, Skyler’s dad, and the animals they saw and interacted with. She left LOTS of pictures to enrich our studies. For the remainder of the week of the 15th we worked industriously to prepare for Thanksgiving: we made wrapping paper, beeswax candles and pumpkin pies. On Friday the 18th we were treated to 3 stories read to us by three young authors from Maryann and Ann’s class: Makenna Nickens (1st grader), Maris Seabury (3rd grader) and Nicholas Hillengas (3rd grader). We ended our week by celebrating Skyler’s 5th birthday with her Montessori birthday walk. Happy Birthday Skyler! Yesterday we made corn muffins for our Thanksgiving luncheon and today we all gathered together at on BIG long, zig-zagged, table to share lunch with each other. We enriched our meal with our homemade applesauce, corn muffins, pumpkin pie and butter that we made this morning. Happy Thanksgiving to all! We wish you and your families a healthy and happy holiday! Nancy & Ashley
