January 28

January 28, 2011

Dear Parents,

We’ve been working hard in the classroom this week.  In math, we’ve taken the plunge into the world of decimals. In science, we are wrapping up our unit on the circulatory system and in language we’re going full bore on our book projects, novel study assignments, autobiographies and senior projects.

Cindy has sent home a research project to end our unit on the heart.  I have attached the assignment, including rubrics, so that you can look it over and assist your child with the research.  Each student was given a hard copy of this assignment as well.

In social studies, we are completing our study of Ancient China; next week we will be celebrating Chinese New Year’s in the classroom and school.  Students have been working on several Reader’s Theatre scripts that they will be presenting to other students.  If your child has anything red to wear, please have them bring it with them to school next week.  Reader’s Theatre does not rely on props; however, a little splash of red, I feel, will add to the “flavor” of the holiday!  Even a red bandana will do!
