We hit the ground running after our week-long break. Students have been reviewing for the upcoming math and language tests in addition to receiving new lessons. We are currently studying integers in math and prisms in geometry. Students are also working on Mayan/Aztec/Inca research.
Beginning next Wednesday, fourth and sixth year students will be taking the English Language Arts tests, which is given in three parts over three days. Please make sure that your child has eaten a sufficient breakfast and gets enough rest the night before.
The following week fifth and sixth year students will be taking the math exam, also beginning on Wednesday. Students not taking exams will be working on other assignments at that time.
We are deep into our Shakespeare play, Julius Caesar. We have been rehearsing our lines and stage choreography. This afternoon, we worked a bit on costumes. On Tuesday, we will have our annual Shakespeare Crew Day, which is when we work primarily on the play. We will be concentrating on set design, costumes, creating playbills, posters and tickets, as well as rehearsing our lines. If you are interested in volunteering your time, please let me know. Volunteers should arrive around 10:30.
Children do not need to bring a lunch on Shakespeare Crew Day as we will be providing pizza (‘tomato pie’ from Perrecca’s), juice, fruit and cookies.
Spelling words for this week are based on our cultural studies. We are currently studying the Immune System. Please see the attached document for the words and assignment and due date.
There is no math homework this week. We have been working on test review and will continue to do so this upcoming week.
Shakespeare: PLEASE PRACTICE YOUR LINES!!! We would like to be off-script by Friday, May 13.
Have a good weekend,
