Woodland Hill Montessori School, one of the oldest Montessori schools in the nation, brings the innovative philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori to New York’s Capital Region. The century-old Montessori method nurtures a child’s natural love of learning and supports each child’s journey toward independence, self-actualization, and personal excellence.

Our children are guided by specially certified teachers who use the well-defined integrated Montessori curriculum and beautifully crafted interactive materials to foster individual and cooperative skills in language, mathematics, science, geography, and social studies.

Woodland Hill Montessori School is an authentic Montessori school fully accredited by the American Montessori Society and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools , and is a member of the Capital Region Independent School Association and the National Association of Independent Schools .

This year our school educates 221 students in pre-k-8th grade. The Children’s House of 3-5 year olds, has five classrooms of 21 children in each class and two teachers, a certified head teacher and an assistant. The Lower Elementary has three classrooms of 6-9 year old children and two teachers, a head teacher and an assistant, in each room. Each class has approximately 23 students. The Upper Elementary uses a three classrooms and there are 45 students and three certified co-teachers and one assistant teacher to teach the 9-12 year old students. Our Middle School has one full time teacher, a part time language arts teacher and a part-time science teacher.
