Head of School – Susan Kambrich

Susan Kambrich has served as Head of School at Woodland Hill Montessori School since 2000. She has been a Montessori educator since 1989 and was Lower Elementary Head Teacher at the Montessori School of Albany from 1995-2000. While at MSA, she has served as Elementary Educational Coordinator, Teacher Board Representative, and as Interim Head before becoming Head of School in 2000. Susan also taught as an Upper Elementary teacher at Hudson Montessori School in Ohio, and as a Primary teacher at Woodland Montessori School in Madison, Wisconsin. She has taught public school kindergarten and a toddler program, and directed a Montessori summer program at Fairbanks Montessori in Fairbanks, Alaska. Susan has a Master of Education degree in Early Childhood Education from Kent State University, and a certificate of advanced studies as School Building Leader from the College of Saint Rose. Susan trained to be a Montessori teacher at Washington Montessori Institute in Washington, DC. She is AMI Montessori certified to teach ages 6-12, AMS certified as a Montessori Administrator and is New York State certified as a principal.              

Business Manager – Susan Evans

Susan Evans is a Certified Public Accountant with a B.S. in Accounting from SUNY Oswego, and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from the College of St. Rose. She has almost 20 years of experience in business management and accounting. Previously, Susan worked as an accountant at Marvin and Co. for seven years and a Controller at Hopmeier, Evans, Gage Insurance for ten years. Susan also served our community as Treasurer to our Board of Trustees, and as our reading teacher for two years.              

Director of Admissions and Community Outreach – Kris Gernert-Dott

Kris Gernert-Dott has a B.S. in Psychology from Union College and also studied for a year at the University of Erlangen in Germany. She is our Director of Admissions and Community Outreach. Kris joined WHMS in 2003 as a parent, and a year later became our Director of Admissions. Her prior work experience is in the field of college admissions.  In 1987, she was an Admissions Interviewer at Skidmore College; she then worked at Hamilton College as an Assistant Director of Admissions from 1988 to 1991 and eventually returned to her alma mater, Union College, as an Associate Dean of Admissions from 1991-2003. She also co-owned the Montessori Toddler’s and Children’s House in Schenectady from 1998-2003.  Kris had the good fortune of attending a Montessori school (the Bede School in Englewood, New Jersey) as a young child.  Her own children have attended Montessori schools from a toddler program through graduating from Woodland Hill in the 8th grade.              

Office Manager – Meg Parascandola

Meg Parascandola comes to us with a Teacher Assistant Certificate from Hudson Valley Community College. Meg’s previous employment includes working as a Teacher Aide at the Averill Park Central School District where she provided academic support to classroom teachers and assisted with classroom management. Her volunteer work with the Girl Scouts has supplied her with the skills and initiative to coordinate and implement creative and organized group activities as well as managing the many tasks needed to keep our front office running smoothly.              

Director of Development and Communications – Moira Rienzo

Moira Rienzo graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism.  She joined WHMS as the Director of Development and Communications in 2007. Her prior experience includes work for the Finance Department at RPI, and as Membership Coordinator at WAMC Public Radio. Moira is very involved in fund-raising and event planning on a volunteer basis for the Friends of Prospect Park, and the Junior League of Troy.          

 Business Office Assistant - Danielle Hall

Danielle Hall holds a Certificate in HTML and Web Design from Global Solutions in Burlington, Mass.  Her background includes Accounting Assistant for Support Plus where she also supported the Human Resources and Marketing Departments. At Americom, Inc., her responsibilities included accounts payable and bank reconciliations.  She also assisted in the accounting departments of Loansnap, Inc., and Arrow Business Forms.      

Special Educator - Tami Meek

Tami Meek holds a Master of Science in Education from the College of Saint Rose. She received a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Cortland in recreation.  Tami has certification in Special Education; Nursery, Kindergarten and Grades 1-6; and Recreation. Tami works for the East Greenbush School District as a Special Education Teacher.  She has worked as a Consultant Teacher and K-2 Communication Skills Teacher at Genet Elementary School since September 2000.  Tami also worked at Circle of Friends and Unity Sunshine Program as a Preschool Special Education Teacher, Special Education Itinerant Teacher, and Early Intervention Special Education Teacher since 1992.              

School Counselor - Mary Bilik

Mary Bilik is a New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a national registered Art Therapist (ATR) with a M.A. in Community Psychology, specializing in counseling and Art Therapy from Sage Graduate School.  Her work experience includes group and individual counseling with children, adolescents and adults.  Mary formerly taught art at Woodland Hill in 2002.     
 
 Director of After-School ActivitiesElizabeth Boyle
 

Elizabeth Boyle completed her undergraduate studies at The Sage College of Albany where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design. She also holds a master’s degree in Teaching Art Education (K-12) from The Sage Graduate School. Elizabeth joins Woodland Hill as the Director of After School Activities. Prior to this position, Elizabeth worked as a freelance graphic designer, and as a Capital Region BOCES Substitute Teacher.

Librarian - Jessica Duffy

Jessica is a graduate student at the University at Albany in the Information Science and School Media program. Jessica is also a certified teacher. She previously taught at the Robert C. Parker School as a second grade math teacher and as a third and fourth grade teacher at Thatcher Brook Elementary School in Waterbury, Vermont.
